TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE November 9, 2014 DeSoto Parish Crash Claims The Life of a Keatchie Man DeSoto Parish-On November 9, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on US Highway 171, just north of Louisiana Highway 5 that claimed the life of a Keatchie man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Ford Truck driven by 72-year-old John Willis of Shreveport was traveling south on US 171 when a 2000 Dodge sedan driven by 55-year-old Leonard Horton of Keatchie swerved into his lane in an erratic manner and caused the two vehicles to collide. After the crash, Horton was transported to University Health for treatment, but was unable to survive his injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained from Horton and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers would like to take this time to remind motorist that erratic and aggressive driving behavior can drastically increase your chances of being involved in a motor vehicle crash.
