TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE March 5, 2015 Crash Claims Life of a Shreveport Man Bossier Parish-On March 5, 2015, at 12:40 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 20, about one mile west of Goodwill Road that claimed the life of a Shreveport man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 20-year-old Rodney L. Clemmons Jr. of Shreveport was traveling east on I-20 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle veered off the left side of roadway and struck the cable barrier. After Clemmons vehicle struck the cable barrier, it re-entered I-20 directly into the path of a 2012 Chevrolet Truck driven by 19-yer-old Greggory R. Lebus of Longview, TX. The 2012 Chevrolet Truck then struck the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse in the driver’s side door and both vehicle came to rest partially off the roadway. Clemmons was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner. A toxicology sample was obtained from Clemmons and will be submitted for analysis, but impairment is not suspected to be a factor. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers want to take this time to remind motorists that fatigued drivers and drivers experiencing unexpected medical problems are three times more likely to be involved in a crash. By taking preventative measures such as stopping for rest or seeking medical attention for an unexpected illness can drastically decrease your chances of being involved in a crash.
