January 10, 2015
Early Morning Crash Claims the Life of an Arkansas Man

DeSoto Parish-On January 10, 2015 at 6:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on US Highway 171 about two miles south of Louisiana Highway 3276 that claimed the life of an Arkansas man.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Anthony Campise of Heber Springs, Arkansas was traveling south on US 171 when it exited the roadway and crashed into a creek.

Campise sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the DeSoto Parish Coroner.

Impairment, speed, and fatigue are suspected factors in this crash. A toxicology sample was obtained from Campise and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Each year, on Louisiana’s highways, numerous people are killed or seriously injured in automobile crashes that involve impaired drivers. In 2013, 47% of the fatal crashes in Troop G involved impaired drivers. Motorists are asked to designate a sober driver before traveling to any place were alcohol will be consumed. Drive sober or get pulled over.
