TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE December 24, 2014 Crash Claims the Life of a West Monroe Woman Webster Parish-On December 23, 2014, at 10:41 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 20 just east of Goodwill Road that claimed the life of a West Monroe woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 International Tractor Trailer driven by 28-year-old Robert Hunter of Repton, Alabama was stopped on the eastbound shoulder of I-20, when an east bound 2008 GMC truck driven by 73-year-old Charles Dillard of West Monroe drifted onto the shoulder and crashed into the Tractor Trailer. The passenger of the GMC truck 56-year-old Regina Dillard sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. A toxicology sample was obtained from Dillard and will be submitted for analysis. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers want to take this time to remind motorists how important it is to follow the “Move Over Law” by merging to the left lane when you encounter a stopped motorist on the roadside. Troopers aggressively enforce this law to avoid these types of tragic crashes. Also you can be proactive and take extra steps such as assuring that your vehicle is in good working conditions prior to making your trip.
