Miguel Moreno and Miguel Salas suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner’s office. The 18-wheeler driver was wearing his seat belt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner’s Office. The 18-wheeler driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The three other passengers in the Dodge, 73-year-old Ma’Angel Amaya of Col. Abiacion, Mexico, 45-year-old Juana Salas and 13-year-old Luis Salas both of Lillington, North Carolina, were taken to a hospital in Ruston with minor injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers would like to take this time to remind drivers to never drive when they are fatigued. Sleepiness slows reaction time, decreases awareness and impairs judgment. Pull over and stop driving if you are having trouble keeping your eyes open, yawning, tailgating or drifting from your lane. .
