TROOP G NEWS RELEASE May 25, 2013 Serious Injury Crash in Bossier Parish On May 25, 2013, at 10:57 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle serious injury crash on U.S. Highway 80 east of Louisiana Highway 164. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 25-year-old Derek Thrasher of Sarepta, was backing on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 80 at a high rate of speed when it lost control and entered the eastbound lane. The Jeep then rolled several times before coming to rest upside down. Thrasher was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. Thrasher suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to a hospital in Shreveport. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation. Wearing a seatbelt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves from injury in the event of a crash. Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants in all seating positions to be properly restrained, day and night. Buckle up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time.
