| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE July 1, 2016 Driver Succumbs to Injuries after Monday Morning Crash in Livingston Parish Denham Springs, LA – Shortly before 11:00 am on June 27, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle crash on LA 1026 (Juban Rd.) south of US 190 in Livingston Parish. On July 1, 2016, Troopers were informed that 62 year old Judy Soulier of Livingston, LA had succumb to injuries she sustained in the crash. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 26 year old Myra Lott of Denham Springs was traveling southbound on LA 1026 in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. At the same time, Soulier was traveling northbound on LA 1026 in a 2012 Toyota Camry. For unknown reasons, Lott crossed the center line of LA 1026 and struck Soulier’s vehicle head-on in the northbound lane. Soulier was properly restrained at the time of the crash but sustained severe injuries. Soulier was transported the Ochsner Medical Center for treatment. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by doctors. Lott was not properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Lott has been charged with Driving Left of Center, No Seat Belt, and No Driver’s License. Additional charges are pending. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
