TROOP G NEWS RELEASE August 20, 2013
The preliminary investigation revealed that 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 47-year-old Delores Parks of Elm Grove, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 527 when it drove off the right side of the road. The Chevrolet continued east down an embankment, through a ditch, then struck a culvert in a private drive and overturned. Delores Parks was restrained, reported moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital in Shreveport. The passenger, 70-year-old Jerry Parks of Elm Grove, was not restrained and was ejected. Jerry Parks suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Seat belts are the most effective safety feature ever invented and have helped save thousands of lives. Sadly, one in five Americans fail to regularly wear a seat belt when driving or riding in a motor vehicle. .
