Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Over 62 Pounds of Marijuana

Bienville Parish, LA- This morning, a State Trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G stopped a 2014 Ford F-150 for a traffic violation on Interstate 20 Eastbound near mile marker 59 west of Arcadia in Bienville Parish which led to the discovery of marijuana in the vehicle.

The driver, 30-year-old Corey Samuel of Houston, Texas, gave consent to search the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Troopers located approximately 62 pounds of marijuana with an approximate street value of $93,000.

Samuel was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

A passenger in the vehicle, 42-year-old Kerry Taylor of Houston, Texas, was also placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Samuel and Taylor were booked into the Bienville Parish Jail. If convicted, each subject faces up to 30 years in prison and up to $150,000 in fines.
