TROOP G NEWS RELEASE

February 7, 2014
Shreveport Man Arrested for Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Juvenile

Yesterday, detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations served an arrest and search warrant at the residence of 46 -year-old Joseph Kipp Girdner of Shreveport in Caddo Parish. The search warrant was obtained as the result of an investigation into computer-aided solicitation begun during the recent Louisiana State Police Carpe Diem initiative.

Troopers determined Girdner was the person responsible for contacting who he thought was a 13-year-old girl using electronic devices. During questioning, Girdner admitted to the charges. As part of the investigation, detectives seized electronic devices for forensic analysis.

Girdner was charged with computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile as well as six (6) counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and was booked into the Caddo Parish Correctional Center. If convicted of all charges, Girdner faces up to a $40,000 fine and from seven to forty five years in prison without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

Troopers will continue our efforts, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting those individuals who attempt to illegally contact underage children.
