TROOP G NEWS RELEASE December 16, 2013 Two Vehicle Crash Claims a Life in Bossier Parish On December 16, 2013, at 3:04 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on US 71 at Lock and Dam # 5 south of Bossier City. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 76-year-old Ronald Juneau of Bossier City, was traveling north on US 71 and crossed the center line causing a 1993 Lincoln Town Car, driven by 64-year-old James Posey of Coushatta that was traveling south on US 71 to exit the roadway in an attempt to avoid the crash. Juneau’s vehicle struck the Lincoln that Posey was driving in the driver’s door. Posey suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Juneau and Posey were both wearing their seatbelts. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from each of the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers urge the public to remain vigilant while driving. Never drive a motor vehicle when impaired or fatigued. Always remain buckled up while in the vehicle, regardless of seating position. Avoid distracting activities, especially the temptations of electronic devices that can substantially divert a driver’s attention away from the road and always obey the speed limit. Troop G has investigated 20 fatal crashes resulting in 23 fatalities this year.
