Edmonson, Superintendent News Release April 04, 2009 Fatal Crash in Red River Parish This evening at about 6:00 PM, troopers began the investigation of a two vehicle crash that killed a motorcycle operator. The crash occurred on LA 783 north of U.S. 71 in Red River Parish. An initial investigation revealed that a Dodge truck was traveling southbound on LA 783 when the driver attempted to make a left turn into a private drive directly in the path of a motorcycle traveling northbound on LA 783. The motorcycle collided into the rear right passenger side of the truck and died as a result of his injuries. The motorcycle operator was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor for either operator.
To this date, Troop G has investigated four (7) fatal crashes resulting in the death of nine (9) people for the year 2009. | |||
