| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release August 25, 2009 46 Pounds of Marijuana This morning at about 6:00 AM, a trooper patrolling Webster Parish stopped a Toyota passenger car and discovered 46 pounds of marijuana concealed in the cargo area of the vehicle. The trooper, working on I-20 near Minden, stopped the vehicle for improper lane use. During the stop, the driver, 37- year old Quentin Talbert from Jackson Mississippi, was unable to establish reliable information about his rental vehicle and his route. Continuing the roadside interview the trooper observed signs consistent with the transport of contraband. Mr. Talbert refused the trooper’s consent to search his vehicle. A canine was then summoned and displayed a positive response to the odor of marijuana from within the vehicle. Troopers then discovered 46 lbs. of marijuana covered on the back seat of the Toyota. Mr. Talbert and his 27- year old passenger, Brandi Acker, were both arrested and taken to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where they are held on the charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.
