Edmonson, Superintendent News Release October 22, 2009 Fatal Crash in Red River Parish This Afternoon troopers began the investigation of a one vehicle crash on LA 507 just north of US 71 that killed a Coushatta man. At about 5:00 pm this afternoon, 52 year old Mark Riggs of Coushatta, was operating his pick-up truck southbound on La. 507, 1.4 miles north of US 71. As the vehicle exited a curve to the left, the vehicle crossed the center line traveling off the east side of the roadway striking a driveway embankment coming to rest overturned. Mr. Riggs was transported to Christus-Coushatta by Red River EMS where he later died of his injuries sustained during the crash. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver was unrestrained at the time of the crash and alcohol is not a suspected factor.
