News Release June 24, 2010 Arkansas Man Dies in Bossier Parish Crash
An Arkansas man has died after losing control of the dump truck he was driving in Bossier Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop G Troopers responded to the crash today at about 12:04 pm. Troopers determined that a 2002 Mack dump truck was traveling north on LA 157 (about 3.8 miles south of US 371) when, for unknown reasons, the driver ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected the vehicle back to the left causing the dump truck to start sliding sideways. The load of gravel in the dump truck shifted and it rolled over onto its passenger side. The vehicle then slid into a bridge guard rail and continued off the south side of the road before coming to rest in a ditch.
The driver, identified as 41-year-old Gregory McWilliams from Magnolia, AR, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner's Office. McWilliams was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
