Edmonson, Superintendent News Release May 13, 2010 Fatal Collision in Claiborne Parish A two-vehicle crash in Claiborne Parish resulted in the death of an Athens woman. Around 5:00 this afternoon, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to the scene of a crash involving a two vehicle head-on crash just north of Minden. The crash occurred when 67-year-old Gwendolyn J. Johnson was travelling north bound along US 79, lost control of her vehicle, and impacted a south bound tractor trailer driven by 55-year-old Willie T. Harris of Minden. Evidence on the roadway indicated Mr. Harris was operating his 2007 Kenworth within his south bound travel lane at the time impact occurred with Mrs. Johnson’s 2003 Ford Mustang. Although impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, routine toxicology tests are pending. Both drivers were restrained. Mr. Harris was not injured but Mrs. Johnson died as a result of her injuries sustained in the crash | |||
