Edmonson, Superintendent News Release May 03, 2010 Fatal Collision in Desoto Parish A one-vehicle crash in Desoto Parish resulted in the death of a Mansfield man. Around 2:00 this morning, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to the scene of a crash involving a single vehicle off the roadway. The crash occurred when 31-year-old Mack Henry Richard, Jr. was travelling south bound along LA 175 just north of Mansfield and lost control of his vehicle. Evidence on the roadway indicated Mr. Richard was operating his 2003 Chevrolet Impala at a high rate of speed as he entered a curve, left the road and traveled about 200 feet before striking a tree. Although impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, routine toxicology tests are pending. Mr. Richard was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.
