| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release November 11, 2009
LEOs “Back to Work” With all the police, fire and EMS tools now cleaned up and dried out from their heavy use in helping manage our recent high water incidents, local first responders assembled all over again for a different reason. Just a week after flying dozens of missions over Bossier Parish, aiding local officials in making critical decisions about flooded areas, LSP Pilot Michael Haley was glad to set his helicopter down at Haughton's Platt Elementary and see children happily back in school. To hundreds of children in small groups, Michael was as excited to explain just what he had been doing hovering over their neighborhoods, as the students were to tell their high-water "adventure" stories. But Pilot Haley wasn't the only one on the receiving end of children’s' versions of the recent flooding. Students spoke with nearly 20 officers from four different agencies that filled Platt's playground yesterday morning with boats, motorcycles, fire trucks, a helicopter and mobile command post. Troop G Commander Captain Tom Madden, who hosts several of these events each school year, gives credit to Bossier Sheriffs Office, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and the Bossier Parish Fire and EMS crews for being a part of our school visits and for requesting our assistance in responding to recent flooding emergencies throughout this area. Captain Madden said, "We are humbled to have supplemented what was already a more than adequate response by our local law enforcement to manage this recent emergency".
