Identity Thieves Arrested

On February 23, 2008, troopers responded to Horseshoe Casino, Bossier City in reference to two female subjects who attempted to enter the casino using fraudulent driver’s licenses. After making contact with both subjects, they were found to be in possession of four counterfeit credit cards each.
The subjects were identified as Katrina Jackson-Bland and Jahayra Carrasquillo. Investigation revealed the two had obtained a total of approximately $7,000.00 from several of the area casinos through the use of the fraudulent credit cards and driver’s licenses during February 22-23, of 2008.
Jackson-Bland and Carrasquillo were placed under arrest and transported to Bossier Parish Jail, where they were booked for Unlawful Use of an I.D. in Conjunction with Gaming Activities and Criminal Conspiracy. Carrasquillo was also additionally charged with
Resisting an Officerfor refusing to give Troopers her name during booking. During the initial investigation it was learned there was a third female, Jacquelyn Nelson, who accompanied Jackson-Bland and Carrasquillo to the casinos. Investigation revealed
Nelson obtained a total of $2,000.00 from one of the local casinos through the use of a fraudulent driver’s license and credit card on February 22, 2008. During the evening of February 23, 2008, Section Troopers located Nelson in the parking garage of Horseshoe Casino
and arrested her also for Unlawful Use of an I.D. in Conjunction with Gaming Activities and Criminal Conspiracy. As a result of the information gathered during a follow-up investigation, on May 5, 2008, arrest warrants were obtained for Carrasquillo and Nelson through the 26th Judicial District Court, Parish of Bossier, for violation of Identity Theft involving the February incidents. On May 6, 2008, troopers located Carrasquillo and Nelson at the Bossier Parish Courthouse, where they had arrived for an arraignment hearing regarding the charges from their initial arrest on February 23, 2008. Following arraignment, both were subsequently arrested and transported back to the Bossier Parish Jail, where they were booked on the active felony warrants. Thus far investigation indicates Jackson-Bland, Carrasquillo and Nelson have fraudulently obtained in excess of $25, 000.00 from the Shreveport/Bossier City area casinos through fraudulent credit card transactions.
