| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release March 25, 2008 Troopers Arrest Canada ARRESTED: Breanna N. Canada B/F 20 YOA Shreveport, Louisiana 71106 CHARGES: L.R.S. 14:72 Forgery (2 Counts) With a road trooper’s discovery of a counterfeit Louisiana 60-day paper license plate in May 2007, the State Police Insurance Fraud Unit alerted area law enforcement agencies and then began an investigation to determine the origin of the license plate. Within 45 days of posting the notice, more than 100 of the counterfeit 60-day license plates and corresponding registration markers were recovered in the Shreveport area. During a recent traffic stop conducted by Shreveport Police Department, officers identified what they believed to be one of the plates reported to be counterfeit. A roadside investigation by the officers identified the front seat passenger, Breanna Canada, as the vehicle’s owner. Shreveport Police Officers forwarded the counterfeit plate and corresponding counterfeit registration to the LSP Insurance Fraud Unit for further investigation. In late February troopers interviewed Canada who denied having knowledge of the forged documents and further said that her grandmother bought her the car. Canada stated the counterfeit temporary license plate was already in the vehicle upon receiving the car. The reported purchaser of the vehicle denied having bought the vehicle but said that she had given Canada $1,500 cash to buy the vehicle. On Tuesday, March 24, 2008, troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Canada through the 1st JDC, Caddo Parish, for two counts of Forgery. On Wednesday, March 25, 2008, Troopers arrested Canada without incident and transported her to the Caddo Correctional Center where she awaits bond.
