FRAUD CATCHES UP TO CADDO WOMAN

ARRESTED: Camilia Johnson
B/F 19 YOA
Shreveport, Louisiana

CHARGES: L.R.S. 22:1243 Insurance Fraud (2 counts)

DATE & TIME
OF ARREST: March 14, 2008 @ 9:45 PM

On Wednesday, January 3, 2007, the Louisiana State Police Insurance Unit received referrals from GEICO Insurance Company in Shreveport, Louisiana and the Progressive Insurance Company in Gainesville, Florida. The referrals alleged Camilia Johnson filed insurance claims for damages that did not occur to her 2001 Saturn on December 8, 2006, and December 12, 2006, respectively. The investigation revealed Mrs. Johnsons vehicle was not in her possession at the time of the alleged crashes and that Blakey Autoplex in Bossier City, under a court order, had repossessed Johnson’s vehicle on December 6, 2006, for non-payment. It was only after Mrs. Johnson’s vehicle was repossessed that she obtained insurance with GEICO, filing an insurance claim a day later for damage to the vehicle as the result of an alleged crash in Claiborne Parish. On December 12, 2006, Johnson obtained insurance with Progressive Insurance Company and later that day, filed an insurance claim alleging her vehicle was damaged while parked at her apartment. On Thursday, January 10, 2008, Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson, through the 1st JDC, Caddo Parish, for two counts of Insurance Fraud but early attempts to locate and arrest Johnson were unsuccessful. On the evening of Friday, March 14, 2008, Investigators received a tip as to Johnson’s location. With the assistance of Shreveport Police, Johnson was arrested on Catherine Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, after a brief foot chase. Troopers booked Johnson in the Shreveport City Jail pending transfer to the Caddo Correctional Center on the LSP warrants.
