TROOP A NEWS RELEASE Troopers Locate Man Who Allegedly Pointed Pellet Rifle at Vehicle on I-10 Baton Rouge – On May 8, 2019, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A placed a man under arrest after he allegedly pointed an AR-15 style pellet rifle at a vehicle on I-10. 40-year-old Jason Jarreau of Baton Rouge was arrested for various charges as a result of the incident which occurred on I-10 in East Baton Rouge Parish. The initial investigation began shortly after 4:00 pm when LSP Troop A received a call from a motorist traveling westbound on I-10 approaching Highland Rd. The caller stated that he observed the driver of a yellow Ford Mustang point an AR-15 style rifle out of his driver’s side window. Troopers immediately began looking for the Mustang, and located it on I-10 near Siegen Ln. Upon stopping the vehicle, a Trooper observed an AR-15 style rifle on the passenger seat of the vehicle. Jarreau admitted to Troopers that the rifle was in fact a pellet rifle. Jarreau was cited for no insurance and a switched license plate. He was also placed under arrest and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail for an outstanding warrant. This incident remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to call LSP Troop A at 225-754-8500. Louisiana State Troopers will remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the people in the state.
