Desoto Parish man Dies in Tractor Trailer Crash

On June 2, 2008 at about 10:00 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop G Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash that resulted in the death Desoto Parish man. The crash occurred on US 84 in Stanley when 91 year old Gordon Christian attempted to make a left turn from a private drive in his 2007 Cadillac. Evidence showed that the driver of the 1995 Peterbilt tractor trailer, 29 year old Onofre Renteria, attempted to avoid the collision by applying maximum breaking that left 300 feet of skid marks prior to the crash. The attempt to avoid the crash was unsuccessful and the collision left Mr. Christian dead at the scene and Mr. Renteria with minor injuries. Both drivers were restrained and alcohol is not suspected.
