| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release October 22, 2008 Troopers in Schools Troopers patrolling rural parts of the parish find opportunities to visit schools at “Story Time”. There has been a decided effort among troopers, like Tim Gray and Doug Pike of Troop G, to become more recognizable among school children by visiting more libraries this Fall school year. Our visits are not necessarily designed to be part of a lesson plan, but to meet with children in the casual settings that lunch time or “Story Time” provides. It is in these settings that troopers sometimes reveal best to children that we are regular people too, with families, hobbies, favorite foods and pets. Most of us are parents and have many school age children. We like to remind children that their safety is so important to us, when they see us at a crash scene or arresting someone on the side of the road, not to be frightened. We are performing our duties to make things safe for you and your family by promising to stand between you and danger no matter how bad it gets. For More Information, Contact: | |||
