Edmonson, Superintendent News Release August 20, 2008 Department of Public Safety Caddo-Bossier Town Meeting Colonel Mike Edmonson, Deputy Secretary of Public Safety and Superintendent of State Police, is pleased to announce the second of several Department of Public Safety (DPS) Town Meetings. Major General Bennett Landreneau, Louisiana National Guard, and a representative from the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will join Colonel Edmonson. This meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 25th in Bossier City, LA. Bossier City Mayor Lorenz “Lo” Walker and the City of Bossier are proud to host this event at the Bossier Civic Center (620 Benton Rd) from 6pm to 8pm and the public is encouraged to attend. The purpose of the DPS Town Meeting is to provide the public with information relative to the broad range of services offered by the Department. Each DPS department head will brief the public on its operations. Additionally, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns about departmental issues or problems. This event is designed as an open forum for the public to provide input and feedback. "I am committed to ensuring that the Department of Public Safety functions as a part of the community - not apart from it,” Edmonson said. “In keeping with Governor Jindal's Administration, I will ensure that DPS is dedicated to public safety, customer service and transparency in its operation. I hope the residents of North Louisiana will attend and participate as we are all partners in ensuring the safety of Louisiana's citizens." DPS Representatives will include: Colonel Mike Edmonson - Deputy Secretary of Public Safety and Superintendent of State Police Jill Boudreaux - Undersecretary Fire Marshall Butch Browning - Office of the Fire Marshall Kay Hodges - Department of Motor Vehicles LTC John LeBlanc - Highway Safety Commission Area elected officials have been invited along with local and parish public safety partners. “The success of this first local DPS Town Meeting depends on you, the citizens, as we work diligently every day to serve your needs,” Edmonson said.
