Man Dies in Bossier Parish DWI Crash

On June 22, 2008 at about 6:30 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop G Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a man in Bossier Parish. The crash occurred on US HWY 71 north of Poole road when the driver of a 2007 GMC 3500 Crew cab pickup failed to negotiate a right curve allowing the vehicle to cross the center double yellow line into the northbound travel lane. The vehicle then left the roadway and traveled along the northbound ditch area prior to striking a large tree. After impact the vehicle rotated clockwise and came to rest overturned on its left (driver's) side. As a result of the crash, the restrained right front passenger received life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, apparently unrestrained, was airlifted to LSUHSC in Shreveport for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. He was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI and Vehicular Homicide. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
