Deadly Crash in Bossier Parish Claims Life of Bossier City Man

Bossier Parish - On April 24, 2011, at 3:39 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on LA 157, just north of US 80, in Bossier Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Bossier City man.

According to investigating troopers, 27-year-old John Keith of Princeton, was traveling north on LA 157 in a 2008 Ford truck when he approached a vehicle that was stopped in front of him. Keith stopped behind the vehicle which was waiting to make a left turn into a private drive. At the same time a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by 48-year-old Michael Paige of Bossier City, approached the Ford truck from behind at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. Paige applied the brake but could not stop in time. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the rear portion of the Ford truck.

Paige was wearing a helmet but was ejected from the motorcycle in the crash. He sustained injuries that were fatal and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner.

Keith was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured.

The vehicle that was stopped making the left turn was not impacted in the crash.

Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

Troop G troopers have investigated 9 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 9 fatalities.
