Deadly Crash in Red River Parish Claims Life of Coushatta Man Hanna – On April 16, 2011, at 2:57 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 1, approximately 3 miles south of US 84, in Hanna. The crash, which occurred in Red River Parish, claimed the life of a Coushatta man. According to investigating troopers, 35-year-old Herman Jackson III was traveling north on LA 1 in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am when for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled into a grassy ditch, struck a utility pole and came to rest after colliding head on with a tree. After the collision the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Jackson, whose restraint use is unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner. Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation. Troop G troopers have investigated 8 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 8 fatalities. Contact Information: | |||
