Shreveport Man Critically Injured in Two Vehicle Collision

DeSoto Parish – On April 26, 2011, at 1:18 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two vehicle crash on Interstate 49, just south of US 84, in DeSoto Parish. The crash critically injured a Shreveport man.

According to investigating troopers, 58-year-old Phillip Tuminello Sr. of Shreveport was traveling north on Interstate 49 when, for unknown reasons, his 1994 Chevrolet Lumina stopped in the right lane. Immediately, Tuminello began directing traffic around his vehicle from the driver’s seat. Moments later, a 2002 Chevrolet truck, operated by 29-year-old John King of Lake Charles, collided with the rear portion of the stalled vehicle within the right lane. The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway.

Tuminello was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport with critical injuries.

King received only minor injuries and refused medical aid at the scene.

Driver distraction is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
