Child Pornography Arrest Made in Shreveport

A joint investigation conducted by Louisiana State Police Region II detectives, the Boynton Beach Police Department in Florida, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Shreveport man as a result of an on-line investigation. The investigation was conducted under the Louisiana State Police Operation Child Watch initiative, a joint multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operation targeting sexual predators that exploit and victimize children.

Investigators suspected child pornography was being downloaded to a computer located at the Shreveport residence of John C. Myers (W/M, age 41). On July 20, 2011, troopers arrested Myers after executing a search warrant at his home and finding hard drives containing hundreds of images of child pornography that had been downloaded from the internet. Myers is suspected to have been involved in the possession and the trade of child pornography for the past 10 years.

Myers was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of pornography involving juveniles. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

The Louisiana State Police remains committed to investigating and arresting those who sexually exploit and victimize innocent children. Through Operation Child Watch, troopers will continue to work in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies to actively pursue child predators and ensure the safety of our children.
