Deadly Crash in Webster Parish Claims Life of Teenager

Webster Parish – On June 12, 2011, at 4:34 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle crash on Goodwill Road, just north of LA 528, in Webster Parish. The crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old from Athens, LA.

According to investigating troopers, 18-year-old Holly B. Romano was traveling north on Goodwill Road in a 2004 Dodge Neon when she approached the intersection of LA 528. After traveling through the intersection, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and entered a grassy ditch. The vehicle came to rest after colliding head on with a tree.

Romano was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner.

Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

Troop G Troopers have investigated 14 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, which resulted in 17 fatalities. Of those 17 people killed, TEN of them were not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Although all crashes are not survivable, taking the time to buckle up properly every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained day or night. Buckle up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time.
