| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – October 16, 2010 Fatal Head on Collision in Red River Parish
Grand Bayou – On October 16, 2010, at 4:35 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 1, two miles south of Grand Bayou, in Red River Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 30-year-old man from Oklahoma. According to investigating troopers, 30-year-old Donald Dale Moss II of Pryor, Oklahoma, was traveling south on LA 1 in a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck when his vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed the centerline into the path of a 1996 Western Star tractor trailer traveling north. The tractor trailer, operated by 31-year-old Sherman Jerome Calhoun of Coushatta, and the Dodge truck both collided head on within the northbound lane of travel. After impact, the tractor trailer, which was carrying a load of logs at the time of the collision, veered off the right side of the road where it overturned and lost its’ load. The Dodge truck spun around and came to rest within the roadway obstructing both lanes of travel. Mr. Moss, who restraint use is unknown, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner. Mr. Calhoun was restrained at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries. Although impairment is not suspected to be a factor, routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation. Contact Information: Tpr. Cordell Williams | |||
