Haynesville – On September 27, 2010, at 1:15 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 521, 5.7 miles north of LA 2, in Claiborne Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Haynesville woman.

According to investigating troopers, 57-year-old Marsha R. Hunter was traveling north on LA 521 in a 2001 GMC Jimmy when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. Hunter overcorrected to the left causing the vehicle to reenter the lanes of travel, spin around counter clockwise and veer off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled up an embankment, striking a fence and several trees. Hunter’s vehicle overturned came to rest upright within the tree line.

Hunter, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Claiborne Parish Coroner.

The crash is believed to have occurred on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Hunter was reported missing to local law enforcement on September 27, 2010, at 2:00 a.m. As a result, a Webster Parish Sheriff’s Detective, who was actively searching for Hunter, located the crash in Claiborne Parish on September 27, 2010, at 1:15 p.m.

Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

Troop G troopers have investigated 31 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 36 fatalities.
