Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – September 20, 2010 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Rollover Crash Coushatta - This morning at 10:10 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one vehicle crash on LA 786 three (3) miles west of US 371 that claimed the life of a Coushatta woman. According to investigating troopers, 66-year-old Rosemary Kitchings of Coushatta was traveling east on LA 786 in a 1996 Saturn SC2 passenger car when she entered a left hand curve. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected to the left causing the vehicle to reenter the lanes of travel. Thereafter, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned where it came to rest on its roof after striking a large tree and fence. Kitchings was not restrained at the time of the crash and was partially ejected. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner. Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation. Troop G troopers have investigated 30 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 35 fatalities.
