| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – August 20, 2010 Child Safety Seat Check Up Event – Caddo Parish Oil City – On August 21, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will sponsor a free Child Seat Checkup Event at the Louisiana State Oil and Gas Museum located at 200 South Land Avenue, Oil City, LA. During the event, caregivers will be provided with first hand information by a nationally certified child passenger safety technician regarding the proper installation of their child’s safety seat. In addition, caregivers will also be provided with life saving information as to what child safety seat should be utilized with the appropriate age, weight, and height limits. The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness and educate our caregivers as it relates to the proper installation of a child safety seat and the effectiveness of the LATCH system. While installing and using child safety seats may appear to be easy enough, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated that close to 3 out of 4 parents do not properly install the child safety seats….and if you are one of those parents, that child safety seat may not protect your child the way it should if involved in a motor vehicle crash. ** For your love one’s sake, there is no room for compromise ** Remember that all children under the age of 13 should ride in the back seat. Always read the child restraint instructions and the vehicle owner’s manual to effect a secure and effective installation. Contact Information: Tpr.
