Staged Crash Ring Investigation in North Louisiana Leads to Multiple Arrests Monroe – On Tuesday, October 20, 2010, Louisiana State Police Troopers assigned to the Region II Criminal Investigation Division, Insurance Fraud Unit/Auto Theft Unit – Monroe Field Office wrapped up a two and a half year investigation that landed several individuals in federal custody. The investigation involved 12 subjects who participated in staged vehicle crash rings that spanned across several north Louisiana parishes. The investigations, which began in May 2008, revealed the Kimble family of Athens, LA and several other individuals were staging vehicle crashes in the north Louisiana over a five-year period. As a result of their actions, insurance claims were fraudulently filed with various insurance companies. These claims totaled over $40,000.00. Subsequently, Federal Grand Jury indictments for 12 subjects were obtained from the United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana, on September 24, 2010. On Tuesday, October 19, 2010, Louisiana State Police, Minden Police Department, Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the U. S. Marshall’s Task Force participated in a joint operation that resulted in the apprehension of nine of the 12 subjects. On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, two other subjects, Joe Abbott and Marcus Kimble, voluntarily surrendered to Louisiana State Police investigators at the Federal Courthouse in Shreveport, LA. The final suspect, Damario Henderson, is currently incarcerated at the Claiborne Parish Detention Center on an unrelated theft charge and will be taken into federal custody at a later date. Arrested subjects are listed below: 1. Bobby Lee Kimble (B/M, Age 39) of Athens, LA 2. Johnny Kimble (B/M, Age 45) of Athens, LA 3. Larry Kimble (B/M, Age 30) of Athens, LA 4. Roy Kimble (B/M, Age 31) of Arcadia, LA 5. Tony Kimble (B/M, Age 24) of Homer, LA 6. Monica Jenkins (B/F, Age 22) of Athens, LA 7. Latiffy Robinson (B/F, Age 27) of Homer, LA 8. Mary Lee Tate (B/F, Age 24) of Arcadia, LA 9. Shuntorian Turner (B/F, Age 30) of Minden, LA 10. Joe Abbott (B/M, Age 51) of Arcadia, LA 11. Marcus Kimble (B/M, Age 27) of Arcadia, LA 12. Damario Henderson (B/M, Age 21) of Homer, LA The aforementioned twelve individuals were arrested on various Federal charges including 18 USC 371;Conspiracy, 18 USC 1341; Mail Fraud, 18 USC 1343; Wire Fraud and 18 USC 1347; Health Care Fraud. The Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit is responsible for investigating referrals of suspected fraudulent insurance acts, assisting federal and local law enforcement in the investigation of fraudulent insurance acts, cooperating with local prosecutors and the attorney general's office in the prosecution of fraudulent insurance acts, and promoting awareness of insurance fraud throughout the state.
