Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – December 25, 2010 Fatal Crash on Christmas Eve Claims One Life Webster Parish – On December 24, 2010, at 8:12 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 20 eastbound at milepost 43, just west of US 371 in Webster Parish. The crash claimed the life of a man from Pollack, LA. According to investigating troopers, 61-year-old John L. Poole was traveling east on Interstate 20 just west of Dixie Inn in a 2000 Peterbilt tractor trailer when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway where it collided with an highway exit sign. Afterwards, the vehicle traveled into a grassy ditch area and struck several standing trees. The tractor trailer came to rest upright within the tree line. Poole, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation. Troop G troopers have investigated 42 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 48 fatalities.
