Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – December 5, 2010 Teenagers Killed in Single Vehicle Crash Stanley – Early this morning, on December 5, 2010, at 2:27 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 191 at its intersection with LA 763 in DeSoto Parish. An 18-year-old teenager from Mansfield, LA and a 17-year-old teenager from Converse, LA were both killed in this crash. According to investigating troopers, 18-year-old Jonathan Mann of Mansfield, LA and his passenger, 17-year-old Evan James Urda of Converse, LA were both traveling south on LA 191 in a 2003 Ford pickup. The vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, ran off the road to the right and struck a large tree. Mann and Urda were both unrestrained at the time of the crash and were pronounced deceased at the scene by the DeSoto Parish Coroner. Alcohol and speed are suspected to be factors in this crash. Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation. Troop G troopers have investigated 37 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 42 fatalities.
