| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – November 24, 2010 Safety Strongly Encouraged During the Thanksgiving Holiday As the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend approaches, many people will travel to various parts of Louisiana to partake in the holiday events with family. Typically, the increase of holiday traffic will bring with it an increase of alcohol related crashes and unbuckled occupants. Louisiana State Police Troop G would like to encourage motorists to make safety paramount this Thanksgiving season by buckling up and refraining from impaired driving. In 2009, 65% of drivers killed in Louisiana were not wearing a seat belt. “Sadly, the holidays, which for many are the happiest time of the year, is also one of the deadliest and most tragic,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. Due to the disturbing statistics previously mentioned, State Police will be out in force across the Troop G area in search of those drivers who are not buckled up and driving impaired. Troopers will work vigorously around the clock to ensure the safety of everyone who is traveling on Louisiana highways this Thanksgiving. This is a community effort, so we are asking for your help. Please report unsafe or impaired drivers to the nearest LSP troop by dialing *577 (*LSP) from a cellular phone or contact your local law enforcement agency. Buckle up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time. Contact Information: | |||
