TROOP A NEWS RELEASE Mississippi Man Killed in Fatal Head-On East Feliciana Parish Crash Jackson – Shortly after 6:30 am on October 22, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 68 south of LA Hwy 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Austin Dixon of Gloster, MS. The initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Dixon was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 68 in a 2018 Toyota Corolla. At the same time, a 2018 Bluebird Bus was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 68. For reasons still under investigation, Dixon crossed the centerline into the opposing lane, which resulted in the Corolla striking the Bluebird head-on. Dixon was properly restrained at the time of the crash; however, sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver and several passengers of the Bluebird were properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Impairment is unknown at this time, but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws.
