| TROOP G NEWS RELEASE July 17, 2019 Proactive Troopers locate Missing Children following Arizona Amber Alert Bienville Parish – On July 17, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police located a 2008 Dodge Ram identified in a recent Arizona Amber Alert traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 in Bienville Parish. Upon stopping the vehicle, Troopers discovered the two missing children being held by their non-custodial parents, 34-year-old Jerry J. Kirkley and 34-year-old Melissa J. Gladden. The non-custodial parents were taken into custody and the two missing children were recovered safely. Arizona officials issued the Amber Alert after the two young children were taken from the Arizona Department of Child Safety by Kirkley and Gladden the day before. The public was warned the two may be heading to either Louisiana or Mississippi. Louisiana State Troopers engaged in pro-active search for the vehicle observed the Dodge pickup and immediately conducted a traffic stop. The two suspects were quickly taken into custody without incident. Louisiana State Police is proud of the hard work and dedication of our Troopers and remains committed to proactive public safety efforts across the state. The Amber Alert program is a cohesive effort between law enforcement and broadcasters, whose goal is to safely locate an abducted child within the critical two-to-three hour time period following an abduction.
