| TROOP G NEWS RELEASE May 13, 2019 Haynesville Man Killed in Crash Claiborne Parish – On May 13, 2019, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G began investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 520, just west of Bell Hill Road. The crash took the life of a Haynesville man. The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2011 Ford pick-up truck, driven by 61-year-old Joe Bell of Haynesville, was traveling west on LA 520. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed the eastbound travel lane and exited the left side of the road before crashing into several trees. Bell, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by Claiborne Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continue to be leading causes of crashes in our state. Information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distrtaction.gov. In 2019, Troop G has investigated nine fatal crashes resulting in nine deaths. Contact Information: | |||
