Unrestrained Jackson Woman Killed in West Feliciana Parish Crash

St. Francisville – Shortly after 2:00 pm on December 8, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on US Hwy 61 at LA Hwy 965 in West Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 79-year-old Adele Goldsby of Jackson.

The initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as 79-year-old Daniel Goldsby Jr. of Jackson was traveling southbound on US Hwy 61 in a 2008 Toyota Highlander. At the same time, a 2002 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on US Hwy 61. For reasons still under investigation, Goldsby failed to yield and made a left turn into the path of the Camry. This resulted in the Camry striking the Highlander on its front passenger side door.

Adele Goldsby was unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. Daniel Goldsby Jr. was also unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Camry were properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries. They were also transported to a local hospital for treatment. Impairment is unknown at this time, but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis.

Motorists should always be cognizant of their surroundings and obey posted traffic control signs. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and obeying all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death.
