TROOP G NEWS RELEASE March 31, 2018 Unrestrained 11-Year-Old Killed in Single Vehicle Crash Webster Parish – Around 4:15 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one-vehicle crash on LA 802, about 2.5 miles east of US 371, that claimed the life of a Webster Parish boy. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Ford Ranger pick-up truck driven by 11-year-old Clark James Davis was traveling at a high rate of speed on LA 802, when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. Davis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner’s Office. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected. Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that speeding reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around curves or objects in the roadway. Speeding also extends the distance necessary to stop a vehicle and can lead to a more serious collision in cases where the vehicle strikes another object. Troopers encourage motorists to observe the speed limit and to always wear a seat belt. In 2018, Troop G has investigated 3 fatal crashes resulting in 3 deaths. Contact information: | |||
