TROOP G NEWS RELEASE March 29, 2018 Pedestrian Struck and Killed on I-20 in Bienville Parish Last Night Arcadia – An unidentified man is dead after being struck by an 18-wheeler overnight while walking on I-20 near Arcadia, Louisiana. On March 28, 2018, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by an 18-wheeler on I-20 about 1.5 miles west of LA 9. The preliminary investigation revealed an unidentified Hispanic male, approximately 25-30 years old, wearing a navy blue shirt, blue denim shorts and brown low top dress shoes, was struck by a 2017 Freightliner as he crossed the inside lane of travel. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the 18-wheeler, Kenneth Ray Rainey III of Meridian, Mississippi, was not injured and showed no signs of impairment. A toxicology sample was obtained from the deceased for analysis and the crash remains under investigation. The weather at the time of the crash was intermittent rain. Pedestrians are encouraged to walk facing traffic, use a sidewalk or highway shoulder when available, wear light colored clothing with reflective materials, and to carry a flashlight at night.
