Sudden Impact Mock Crash to Be Held at Lakeside High School

Multiple first responder agencies along with Lakeside, Doyline and Minden High School students will participate in a mock crash to demonstrate the dangers of impaired driving and lack of seat belt usage to the students.

On Friday, March 9, 2018, at 9:15 a.m., on the Lakeside High School Campus (Located at 9090 US 371, Sibley, LA 71073), multiple agencies will work with students to demonstrate the possible fatal consequences of impaired driving and the dangers of not using seat belts. Students involved will act out a fatal crash scene scenario in front of their peers, allowing the students to see first-hand how drinking and driving affects everyone involved.

Numerous state and local agencies including Louisiana State Police Troop G, Pafford EMS, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sibley and Minden Fire Departments, University Health Shreveport, Webster Parish Coroner’s Office, Sibley Police Department, Thinkfirst of Louisiana and Gordon’s Wrecker Service will participate in the scenario. Local residents should not be alarmed to see and hear emergency vehicles arriving at the school during the mock crash event.

This is an effort by participating agencies to reduce the number of underage DWI's as well as serious injury and fatal crashes, particularly during Prom season. Programs such as mock crashes teach youth the importance of making sound decisions throughout the course of their lives.

** All media outlets are invited to attend this event. **
