TROOP G NEWS RELEASE February 20, 2018 Speeding Ringgold Woman Killed in Single Vehicle Crash Bienville Parish – Around 1:30 p.m. today, Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one-vehicle crash on Bistineau Lake Road, about 1 mile north of LA 154 that claimed the life of a Ringgold woman. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Pontiac G6 passenger car driven by 34-year-old Brandy Barton Ricketson of Ringgold was traveling north on Bistineau Lake Road, when for reasons still under investigation the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. Ricketson was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash but due to the severity of the crash, she sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Speed is considered to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that speeding reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around curves or objects in the roadway. Speeding also extends the distance necessary to stop a vehicle and can lead to a more serious collision in cases where the vehicle strikes another object. Troopers encourage motorists to observe the speed limit and to drive at a speed that is safe for prevailing road and weather conditions. In 2018, Troop G has investigated 1 fatal crash resulting in 1 death. Contact information: | |||
