Theft of Casino Bank Deposit Lands Shreveport Man in Jail

Shreveport, LA-On April 1, 2015, the Louisiana State Police Gaming Operations Section was contacted by Horseshoe Casino in reference to a shortage from a deposit they made to Capital One Bank, on March 23, 2015. Troopers immediately launched an investigation and casino representatives provided documentation which revealed that three bags of currency, markers, credit card receipts, and personal checks were picked up from the casino by Brinks, Inc., armored courier service on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Troopers reviewed surveillance coverage and confirmed Brinks personnel did indeed retrieve three bags of currency from the casino. The bags were to be deposited the following Monday, March 23, 2015, at Capital One Bank in Shreveport. Documentation of the manifest received from Capital One Bank revealed the bag which contained $354,879.86 was never delivered to the bank for deposit. The contents of the bag included $284,279.86 in cash, $29,000 in customer markers, $12,100 in credit card transactions, and $29,500 in personal checks.

On April 2, 2015, Troopers went to the Brinks, Inc. office in Shreveport and reviewed surveillance coverage of the armored truck which obtained the three bags of currency from Horseshoe Casino. The messenger of the truck who handled the bag was identified as 35-year-old Anhkim Le of Shreveport. Surveillance coverage revealed Le scanned the bag into the Brinks vault and placed the bag into a large blue bag which would eventually be placed into the overnight vault, but after further investigation, it was discovered that Le never actually put all of the funds into the vault.

On April 3, 2015, Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Le through Caddo Parish for Theft of $354,879.86, as well as a search warrant for his residence. Troopers then executed the search warrant on Le's residence and recovered a total of $280,552.00 in currency. Troopers were unable to locate the remaining balance of $3,627.86. Le stated he shredded and discarded the credit card transactions, customer markers, and personal checks. At the conclusion of the investigation, Le was booked for Felony Theft.

Troopers want to take this time to remind citizens that theft is a crime in the state of Louisiana and it will not be taken lightly. Troopers will continue to be proactive in all sections of State Police to insure that the State of Louisiana is a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
