TROOP A NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Teenager Killed in Livingston Parish Crash Holden – Shortly after 1:30 am on February 16, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on US Hwy 190 east of LA Hwy 441 in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 16-year-old Nathan Raymond of Holden. The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2002 GMC Sierra was traveling eastbound on US Hwy 190. For unknown reasons, the GMC ran off the roadway to the right and struck a tree. Raymond was unrestrained at the time of the crash and ejected from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries as a result and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Due to the severity of the crash, the identity of the driver and restraint use by the other four passengers are unknown at this time. All four additional passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants in a vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired and always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
