Pedestrian Killed in Bienville Parish Crash

Bienville Parish – On December 18, 2020, shortly after 4:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G began investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 20 west of Arcadia. This crash killed 29-year-old Kedelric Brown of Arcadia.

The initial investigation revealed a pedestrian, later identified as Brown, was standing in the eastbound travel lanes of Interstate 20. At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2019 Nissan passenger car were traveling in the eastbound travel lanes approaching Brown. For reasons still under investigation, Brown remained in the travel lanes and was struck by both vehicles. As a result, Brown sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers of the vehicles were not injured in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana law prohibits pedestrians from crossing any interstate, except in case of an emergency. Pedestrians walking near a roadway should always make themselves visible to drivers by wearing bright and reflective clothing. They should carry a flashlight at night for added safety. If no sidewalk is available, pedestrians should walk on the shoulder or roadway edge facing traffic.

In 2020, Troop G has investigated 27 fatal crashes resulting in 33 deaths.
